Research Alert: CFRA Keeps Hold Opinion On Shares Of Lincoln National Corporation
Aug 6, 2025 9:41 AM

12:20 PM EDT, 08/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We raise our 12-month target price by $5 to $42, valuing LNC shares at 5.4x our 2026 operating EPS estimate of $7.80, vs. the three-year average forward multiple of 4.1x ad a peer average of 8.2x. We lift our 2025 EPS estimate by $0.58 to $7.61. LNC posted Q2 operating EPS of $2.36 vs. $1.87, besting our $1.58 EPS estimate and the $1.88 consensus view, on a 4.3% rise in operating revenues (vs. our 3% to 6% growth forecast). Margins were aided by a turnaround in Life Insurance profitability ($32M operating profits vs. a $35M loss) and a 33% rise in Group Protection profits, partly offset by 8% lower Retirement Plan profits. We applaud the steps LNC has taken to rebuild its capital position and realign itself. However, the firm remains heavily exposed to equity market fluctuations, without an appropriate amount of upside growth potential to justify that risk, in our opinion. LNC shares' current beta of 1.4 is one of the highest in the life insurance peer group, without the attendant potential upside.

Sep 6, 2024
It's the perennial question among stock investors: which is better - growth investing or value investing? Recently, there's been little contest. Growth stocks, such as Apple and Nvidia ( NVDA ), have handily outperformed value names. But it's not always that way, and many investors think value will once again have its day -- although they've been waiting on that...
