Research Alert: CFRA Keeps Hold Opinion On Shares Of Markel Group, Inc.
Aug 10, 2025 10:25 PM

01:05 AM EDT, 08/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We keep our $2,000 target price, based on 18.8x our 2026 operating EPS estimate of $106.15 (cut by $4.70) and at 20.9x our 2025 EPS estimate of $95.56 (down by $4.70), vs. their one-year average forward multiple of 18.7x and the peer average of 13x. At current levels, the shares trade at 20x our 2025 operating EPS estimate, a premium to peer and historical averages, and we view them as fairly valued . We lowered our opinion to Hold from Buy on February 6, 2025 (capturing over 19% upside YTD) after MKL announced that, after receiving an overture from activist investor Jana Partners, it has decided to "conduct a review" of its business, with a "foremost focus" on its specialty insurance franchise. MKL noted that it would also seek ways to simplify its structure and optimize its approach to capital allocation. To that end, MKL announced in late July 2025 that it was placing its reinsurance business into runoff. At this juncture, we have no further information about Jana Partners' further intentions toward MKL.
