Research Alert: CFRA Keeps Hold Opinion On Shares Of Markel Group Inc.
Nov 9, 2025 9:25 PM

12:15 AM EST, 11/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We lift our target price by $100 to $2100, valuing MKL shares at 18x our newly initiated 2027 operating EPS estimate of $116.75 and at 19.4x our 2026 EPS estimate of $108.15 (up by $2.00), versus the shares' three-year average forward multiple of 18x and a peer average of 13x. We raise our 2025 EPS estimate by $10.01 to$105.57 after MKL posted Q3 operating EPS of $31.61 versus $20.92, topping our $23.60 EPS estimate and the $23.77 consensus view. Operating revenues increased 6.5% Y/Y in Q3, with YTD revenue growth of 3.7% lagging our 5%-8% forecast. We view these results as mixed, reflecting a more competitive market environment that may be exacerbated by internal factors, including recent activist interest. Underwriting results improved with the combined ratio at 92.3% versus 96.4% a year ago, reflecting lower catastrophe claims and contained current accident year loss costs. We downgraded our opinion to Hold from Buy on February 6, 2025 (capturing over 19% upside YTD), and view the shares as fairly valued.
