01:45 PM EDT, 08/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:
We lift our 12-month target by $2 to $120, about 40x our FY 27 (Jan.) EPS of $2.99 (from $2.94; FY 26 to $2.68 from $2.66), a justifiable premium to historical averages. We see an enhanced buying opportunity following the market reaction to FQ2 (Jul-Q) results, where profit margins were pressured by some one-off items. In our view, underlying momentum has only strengthened. Walmart U.S. comps rose +4.6% in FQ2 vs. +4.5% in FQ1, despite tougher comparisons (lapping +4.2% vs. +3.8% in FQ1). U.S. e-com sales accelerated to +26% from the low-20% range in recent quarters, supported by faster delivery speeds and more price rollbacks. Yet, e-com profitability is improving faster than expected, with alternate revenue streams (ads, membership, marketplace) contributing to about half of operating profit growth this quarter (ex. one-off liability accruals). WMT is also managing tariffs well, noting Walmart U.S. gross margin expansion this quarter (+30 bps) and inventory up just 2% Y/Y (reduces future markdown risk).
