Research Alert: CFRA Maintains Buy Opinion On Shares Of Alibaba
Aug 29, 2025 11:04 AM

01:45 PM EDT, 08/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We raise our 12-month target price to $167 from $158 on P/E of 14x our CY 27 view, near the five-year historical forward average but well below the 21x levels posted over the last decade. We cut our FY 26 (Mar.) EPS estimate to CNY60.61 from CNY69.57 and FY 27 to CNY75.48 from CNY79.40. We start FY 28 at CNY88.78. Despite posting mixed Jun-Q results, we are encouraged by BABA's aggressive pivot towards two strategic pillars: AI + Cloud and a comprehensive consumption platform (integration of e-commerce, food, travel, and mapping services). The cloud business is accelerating and seeing greater contribution for AI services (now over 20% of external customer revenue). Conversely, we expect the new Alibaba China e-commerce group, which now integrates Taobao/Tmall with Ele.me (Quick Commerce) and Fliggy, to spend heavily to win the Quick Commerce war, which should allow BABA to achieve increasing user and order volume growth. Valuation remains enticing, especially given improving growth prospects ahead.

When it comes to saving for retirement, investors generally use a combination of equity and fixed income investments. If you're young and retirement is still far off, your portfolio is more likely to hold mostly equity (stock-based) investments because you have a long time to make up for any short-term fluctuations in the markets. And then as you approach retirement,...
