12:25 PM EDT, 05/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:
President Trump made headlines by threatening to place a 25% tariff on iPhones that were imported into the U.S., but we don't expect the comments to alter how AAPL manages long-term manufacturing plans (shifting more iPhone production to India). The tariff landscape as it pertains to AAPL remains extremely messy and visibility is low given all the moving parts, which makes analyzing the impact difficult (e.g., 232 semiconductor and U.S./China dialogue). We await the pending 232 semiconductor investigation outcome, which we think will lead to a 25% tariff on all semiconductors imported into the U.S. (through hardware products like iPhones), and we don't take much away from the headlines outside of the fact that the Trump/Cook relationship may be slowly deteriorating. Still, we expect Tim Cook to simmer recent escalation by bringing more production into the U.S. (we think the key is chip production, not iPhones) and we believe AAPL could raise iPhone prices once it gets more clarity on the tariff landscape.
