Research Alert: CFRA Maintains Strong Buy Opinion On Shares Of Pnc Financial Services Group
Jul 16, 2025 11:29 AM

02:05 PM EDT, 07/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We increase our target price by $40 to $260, 14.9x our 2026 EPS estimate, a premium to the peer average of 10.2x given PNC's stable operating model. We raise our 2025 EPS estimate by $0.20 to $15.53 and 2026's by $0.19 to $17.45. We are encouraged by PNC's recent loan momentum and expect the bank to outperform its 2025 loan guidance of 1% growth. Our outlook is based on expectations for market share gains as PNC expands into the fast-growing Southeast and Southwest markets. We expect robust expense management to continue, driving significant operating leverage and record earnings per share in both 2025 and 2026. Capital returns should provide additional support as PNC repurchases shares with excess capital. Notably, PNC recently outperformed its peer group in the 2025 stress test, showing a peak-to-trough capital depletion of just 80 basis points. This validates our view that PNC can increase its return on equity by reducing its CET1 ratio from the current 10.5% (as of Q2) without taking on excessive risk.
