Jharkhand Election Result 2019 Highlights: Congress-JMM alliance wins, Amit Shah says BJP respects mandate

Jharkhand election 2019 result highlights: Just six months after winning 12 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, the BJP has been voted out of power in the state. The grand alliance between the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has secured a comfortable majority. Outgoing chief minister Raghubar Das has lost to Saryu Roy, his former cabinet colleague who fought as an independent against him, by 15,725 votes. Out of the 81 seats up for grabs, the Congress, JMM, and RJD alliance have won 47 seats while the BJP has managed to win 25 seats, which is 12 less than last time.  44-year old Hemant Soren is all set for a second term as the state's chief minister. He contested from two constituencies and won both. Soren won the Dumka seat defeating BJP's Lois Marandi by 13,188 votes. With Jharkhand, the BJP has lost power in five states in just the last 12 months. It all started with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in December last year. Then came Maharashtra where it failed to form the government despite emerging as the single-largest party and now Jharkhand. The BJP led NDA controlled 75 percent of the national landscape just two years ago. It now controls about 35 percent.
