Closing Bell: Nifty, Sensex end flat after a choppy session; Nifty Realty rises 2%##Closing Bell: Nifty, Sensex end flat after a choppy session; Nifty Realty rises 2%

Nifty, Sensex ended the day flat after a choppy session, bogged down by crude hitting a fresh 2019 high, weak rupee and rising WPI. However, The S&P BSE Sensex settled at 37,755, up 3 points, while the broader NSE Nifty50 ended at 11,343, adding 1 point. Meanwhile, broader markets were in-line with frontline indices with the Nifty MidCap and Nifty Smallcap ending on a flat note.

NTPC, IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank, Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers on Nifty50 while, HCL Tech, HeroMoto COrp, Ultratech Cements, Tata Motors and ICICI Banks were the biggest draggers.

Nifty Bank ended the day off highs (up only 0.1 percent) but at a new record. It hit record high of 29,070, in intraday trade. IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank, RBL Bank, IDFC First Bank, Bank of Baroda, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank settled in positive for the day.

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) companies were trading under pressure as lenders of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications sold 12 crore pledged shares, which accounted for 4.34 percent stake of promoters in the telecom firm.

Reliance Communications (RCom) hit a new low of Rs 4.65, down 5 percent on the BSE in intra-day trade. The stock was currently trading 2.8 percent lower at Rs 4.7. Incomparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading flat.

Besides RCom, Reliance Capital declined 7 percent followed by Reliance Power (down 6.9 percent), Reliance Home Finance (down 4.4 percent), Reliance Naval and Engineering (down 4.1 percent), Reliance Infrastructure (down 3.8 percent), and Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management (down 2.7 percent).
