-Indian benchmark equity indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, ended higher on Thursday, driven by gains in metals and financials. Sentiment improved after US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell rekindled rate-cut hopes.

-Nifty snaps 4-day losing streak to close with a gain of 84 points, Sensex and Nifty Bank post best one-day gain in eight trading sessions. Sensex ends 266 points higher and Nifty Bank snaps three-day losing streak.

-HDFC Bank and SBI keep Nifty Bank higher while ICICI Bank and Axis drag.

-IndusInd Bank supports Nifty Bank with 59 points ahead of earnings tomorrow.

-Midcap index up 124 points, Bharat Forge amongst top gainers after order win.

-Infosys ends at day’s high ahead of earnings; CC growth seen at 2.8 percent against TCS’ 2.2 percent.

-Autos outperform; M&M doesn’t see auto industry revising growth guidance. M&M up 2 percent despite company’s comment on downward revision for tractor biz growth.

The BSE Sensex ended 266 points higher, or 0.69 percent, to settle at 38,823 at close. The NSE Nifty50 settled 84 points higher, or 0.73 percent, at 11,583. The Nifty MidCap index gained 0.73 percent, while Bank Nifty also surged 0.64 percent. Hero Motocorp, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, Vedanta and SBI were top gainers among Sensex stocks, rising 2.5-4.6 percent, while ICICI Bank, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, TCS and L&T were losers. Nifty Media and Metal, BSE Auto and Metal and Nifty Auto were among major advancing sectors. BSE Capital Goods and Consumer Durables were the only two declining sectors.

Oil futures hit a six-week high on Thursday as oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico were evacuated ahead of a storm, while an incident with a British tanker in the Middle East highlighted ongoing tensions in the region.Brent crude futures reversed early losses and were up 36 cents, or 0.5 percent, at $67.37 a barrel by 0643 GMT. Earlier in the session, they hit their highest since May 30 at $67.39, after ending Wednesday up 4.4%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 32 cents, or 0.5 percent, at $60.75 a barrel, having earlier touched their highest since May 23 at $60.83. They gained 4.5 percent in the previous session.

Reliance Infra shares shot up over 12 percent after the company said its lenders have signed an inter-creditor agreement for the company’s debt under the RBI’s June 7 circular.
