The BSE Sensex ended marginally low by 10 points, or 0.03 percent, at 34,432. The Nifty also ended flat, down by 6 points, or 0.06 percent, at 10,380. Yes Bank emerged as the top percentage gainer on both benchmark indexes, rising more than 9 percent. Infosys, ITC, Reliance, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank were among the top drags, while L&T, Axis Bank, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank and SBI supported the bulls. Broader markets outperformed with the Nifty MidCap ending higher by 0.87 percent. The BSE MidCap surged more than a percent. Nifty Bank ended 0.68 percent higher.

HDFC reported its Q2 earnings with net profit at Rs 2,467 crores, 1.5 percent higher than a CNBCTV18 poll estimate of Rs 2,429.5.

Shares of Marico were marginally up by 0.22 percent on the NSE at 3.08 pm. FMCG major Marico's Q2 net profit shot up 18 percent at Rs 218.3 crore against Rs 185 crore on YoY basis. Revenue also grew by 19.6 percent to Rs 1,836.8 compared to Rs 1,536.3 crore in the same quarter last year. Marico's margin however declined by 90 basis points. The stock touched a low of Rs 317.60 after opening at Rs 324.70. Meanwhile, the Nifty traded at 10,377, down by 9 points, or 0.09 percent. The Sensex was trading at 34,434.45, lower by 7.60 points, or 0.02 percent.

Shares of Berger Paints traded at Rs 287.65, surging by 2.77 percent at 2.15 pm on the NSE. The stock touched an intra-day high of Rs 291.35, after opening at Rs 281.55. The company posted a net profit of Rs 117 crore, surging 5.3 percent on YoY basis against Rs 111.3 crore in Q2FY18. The revenue increased 16.3 percent to Rs 1,490.1 against Rs 1,281.7 crore in same quarter last year. The company's margin declined 160 basis points.
Meanwhile, benchmark indices trade volatile with the Sensex dipping by 23 points, or 0.07 percent, to 34,419 at 2.20 pm. The Nifty traded at 10,372, down by 14.5 points, or 0.14 percent.

Graphite India rises ahead of Q2 results##Graphite India rises ahead of Q2 results
Shares of Graphite India rose as much as 9 percent on hopes of strong earnings after its peer HEG Ltd posted a nearly eightfold on-year rise in net profit for July-September at Rs 8.89 billion. Revenue from operations of HEG for July-September rose over fourfold to Rs 17.94 billion. So far today, over 1 million shares of Graphite India have changed hands on the NSE, double the daily average of 511,701 shares. At 1.15 pm, shares of the company were up 7 percent at Rs 1,015.40, among the top gainers on the Nifty 200 index. So far in 2018, the stock has gained nearly 45 percent.

Indian equity market traded volatile on Thursday afternoon with IT, consumer, pharma and auto stocks dragging indexes lower. The BSE Sensex traded at 34,330.63, lower by 111.42 points, or 0.32 percent at noon, while the NSE Nifty50 was down by 40 points, or 0.39 percent, at 10,346.50. The 30-share BSE gauge had opened at 34,650, while the 50-share NSE index started at 10,441.70. Broader market indices outperformed their frontline peers with the Nifty MidCap trading higher by 0.75 percent. The BSE MidCap was also higher by 0.78 percent. Among sectoral indexes, as many as 27 stocks advanced with BSE Capital Goods leading by 3.5 percent along with BSE Industrials, Nifty Realty, Nifty Infra and BSE Realty. Nifty IT, BSE IT, BSE Teck, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Pharma declined by up to 2.44 percent.

Shares of Ashok Leyland erased gains as the company's total sales for October were at 15,149 units, lower than analysts' estimates. Brokerage firm Nirmal Bang Institutional Equities and Nomura Financial Advisory and Securities India had estimated the company's sales at 15,641 and 17,000 units, respectively. These sales for October were, however, up 17% on year and down 22 percent on month. The company said it sold 5,352 units of large commercial vehicles, up 41 percent from those sold last year.
