The move in the agrochemicals space has been big this year, but the biggest player in the agrochemical sector UPL is down 23 percent in 2020 but up around 87 percent from the March lows. Similar is the story for other stocks, they have surged from March lows from 88 percent to 160 percent and are up this year between 50 percent and 80 percent.
In specialty chemicals space, the moves have been big – SRF is 122 percent from March lows and gains seen around 192 percent on Deepak Nitrite, Navin Fluorine is up 166 percent from March lows and for the year the gains have been between 16 percent and 200 percent for all the stocks.
Meanwhile, speaking about specialty chemicals in an interview with CNBC-TV18, Rohan Gupta, Research Analyst at Edelweiss said, “The growth opportunity for the sector is likely to remain solid.”
“We are not just focusing on valuations because valuations have been continuously going up, but this is about fundamental growth opportunity and structural growth in the companies and that’s what is driving the valuations,” he said.
