Election Caravan: Forced closure of shops angers Delhi traders
May 10, 2019 11:28 AM

Delhi is getting ready to go to polls on May 12. Elections for seven Lok Sabha constituencies - Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi and West Delhi - will be held at over 13,000 polling booths across the city.

As the National Capital gears up to vote, CNBC-TV18 has visited Delhi's 'Gali Chowkidar Wali' in the Chandni Chowk constituency and spoke to voters.

At Amar Colony, the traders are angry over the recent shop closure drive. Approximately 400 shops have been closed in the colony in the last eighteen months because of the sealing drive and it's the same story across markets in the National Capital Region. Many traders have said that they will choose 'Nota' this time.

Both the BJP and the Congress are banking on celebrity candidates in Delhi to woo voters. Candidates include former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, boxer Vijender Singh and singer Hans Raj Hans.
