07:53 AM EDT, 07/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The benchmark US stock measures were mostly pointing higher before the opening bell Monday as traders await minutes of the Federal Reserve's last policy meeting, due later in the week.
The S&P 500 was up 0.4% and the Nasdaq increased 1% in premarket activity, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was little changed. The indexes finished Thursday's trading session mixed. US markets were closed Friday in observance of the Independence Day holiday, which fell on a Saturday this year.
The Fed is scheduled to post minutes of its June policy meeting Wednesday. At the meeting, policymakers kept their benchmark lending rate steady for a fourth consecutive time.
Markets are pricing in a 76% probability that the Fed will leave interest rates unchanged later this month, according to the CME FedWatch tool. The remaining odds are in favor of a 25-basis-point hike.
Last week, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh suggested the central bank may be headed for another policy pause as inflation risks have eased. Warsh said the Fed remains committed to deliver price stability in the US, reiterating what the Federal Open Market Committee said in its June policy statement.
Treasury yields were down in premarket action Monday, with the two-year rate retreating 2.3 basis points to 4.11% and the 10-year rate declining 1.8 basis points to 4.46%.
Last week, government data showed that the US economy added 57,000 nonfarm jobs in June, representing the weakest tally since February. Economists said downward revisions to payrolls growth in the previous two months clouded a recent revival in the labor market.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 0.1% at $68.75 a barrel before the open Monday, while Brent was little changed at $72.11.
Over the weekend, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and their allies agreed to further increase output targets by 188,000 barrels a day from August, on top of similar hikes for the previous two months.
Micron Technology ( MU ) shares rebounded 2% pre-bell Monday after finishing the previous trading session with a 5.5% drop. Nvidia ( NVDA ) edged up 0.3%, while Qualcomm ( QCOM ) gained 1.2%.
Monday's economic calendar has the purchasing managers' index composite final report from S&P Global ( SPGI ) for June at 9:45 am ET, followed by the Institute for Supply Management's services index for the same month at 10 am.
PepsiCo ( PEP ) , Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) and Levi Strauss (LEVI) are expected to release their latest quarterly results later in the week.
Gold inclined 0.8% to $4,160 per troy ounce, while bitcoin inched 0.1% higher to $62,797.
