03:56 PM EST, 02/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US benchmark equity indexes were on track to close higher on Friday after talks between President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding rare earth minerals collapsed.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6% to 43,486.1, while the Nasdaq Composite increased 0.5% to 18,636.3. The S&P 500 was up 0.6% to 5,897.6. All sectors, posted gains today with financials and energy leading.
NetApp ( NTAP ) was the worst performer on the S&P 500 with shares down nearly 16% after the company lowered its fiscal 2025 outlook on Thursday.
AES ( AES ) shares were up over 12% as the company outlined an upbeat full-year earnings outlook, following a quarterly beat.
The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 6.4 basis points to 4.2%, while the two-year rate was down 8.1 basis points to 4%.
April West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 0.5% at $69.97 a barrel.
