08:19 AM EDT, 06/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust ( SPY ) was up 0.1% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was 0.7% higher in Thursday's premarket activity, ahead of key economic data releasing later in the morning.
US stock futures were mixed, with S&P 500 Index futures up 0.1%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures retreating 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 0.6% before the start of regular trading.
The weekly jobless claims bulletin from Washington will be released at 8:30 am ET, along with the producer price index report for May.
The weekly EIA natural gas supplies report posts at 10:30 am ET.
New York Federal Reserve President John Williams speaks at noon.
In premarket action, bitcoin was up 0.1% and the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF ( BITO ) was up 0.3% higher.

Health Care
The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLV ) slipped 0.3%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund ( VHT ) gained 0.3% while the iShares US Healthcare ETF ( IYH ) was up 0.2% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF ( IBB ) was off 0.3%.
BioRestorative Therapies ( BRTX ) shares were up more than 31% premarket after the company said it had "substantive discussions" with an undisclosed regenerative medicine company about licensing its ThermoStem metabolic intellectual property.

Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK ) was up 0.5%, and the iShares US Technology ETF ( IYW ) was 0.8% higher, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF ( IGM ) was up 0.4%. Among semiconductor ETFs, SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF ( SOXX ) rose 1%.
Broadcom ( AVGO ) shares were up nearly 14% in premarket activity on Thursday after the company reported overnight an increase in fiscal Q2 earnings and sales while raising its revenue guidance for the full financial year.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLI ) retreated 0.4%, while the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund ( VIS ) was flat and the iShares US Industrials ETF ( IYJ ) was down 0.1%.
Virgin Galactic Holdings ( SPCE ) shares fell more than 12% before the opening bell after the company said Wednesday its board has approved a 1-for-20 reverse stock split to help meet the minimum per share bid price requirement for continued listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
Energy
The iShares US Energy ETF ( IYE ) declined 0.2%, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) fell by 0.1%.
NextDecade ( NEXT ) stock rose past 7% before Thursday's opening bell after the company said it signed a non-binding agreement with Aramco for a 20-year purchase of liquefied natural gas from NextDecade's ( NEXT ) Rio Grande LNG facility.
Consumer
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) was down 0.4%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Fund (VDC) retreated 0.3%. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF ( IYK ) was inactive, and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) gained 0.5%. The VanEck Retail ETF ( RTH ) and the SPDR S&P Retail ETF ( XRT ) were inactive.
Tesla (TSLA) traded up more than 6% pre-bell after Chief Executive Elon Musk said late Wednesday that proposals to approve his $56 billion pay package and move the company to Texas appear to be passing with overwhelming shareholder support.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLF ) retreated 0.2%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was down 0.7%, while its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 0.3% higher.
Ares Management ( ARES ) shares were nearly 3% lower pre-bell after the company said late Wednesday it priced a public offering of about 2.7 million shares of its class A common stock at $134.75 per share.
Commodities
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.9% to $77.82 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas was 2.1% lower at $2.98 per 1 million British Thermal Units. United States Oil Fund ( USO ) lost 0.5%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) fell 2.5%.
Gold futures for August retreated 1.3% to $2,324.20 an ounce on the Comex, while silver futures were down 3.5% to $29.20 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares ( GLD ) slipped 0.7%, and iShares Silver Trust ( SLV ) was 1.5% lower.
