08:12 AM EDT, 07/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust ( SPY ) was up 0.1% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was 0.2% higher in Monday's premarket activity, ahead of key jobs reports due later this week.
US stock futures were also higher, with S&P 500 Index futures up 0.2%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures advancing 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 0.2% before the start of regular trading.
The S&P Global June manufacturing PMI final will be released at 9:45 am ET, followed by the June ISM Manufacturing Index, and the May construction spending bulletin at 10 am ET.
In premarket action, bitcoin was up by 1.2% and the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF ( BITO ) was 4.7% higher.
Power Play:
Consumer
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) was up 0.3%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Fund (VDC) was inactive. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF ( IYK ) rose 1.9%, and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) gained 0.5%. The VanEck Retail ETF ( RTH ) and the SPDR S&P Retail ETF ( XRT ) were inactive.
Chewy (CHWY) shares rallied past 15% premarket Monday after Keith Gill, the stock influencer known as "Roaring Kitty," disclosed a 6.6% stake in the company.

Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK ) advanced 0.1%, and the iShares US Technology ETF ( IYW ) was down 0.3%, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF ( IGM ) was 1.8% higher. Among semiconductor ETFs, SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF ( SOXX ) rose by 0.2%.
Actelis Networks (ASNS) shares were down more than 14% in recent Monday premarket activity after the company said it has agreed to immediately exercise certain outstanding Series A-2 warrants, allowing the purchase of 999,670 shares at $2 per share, expected to generate about $2.25 million in gross proceeds.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLI ) advanced 0.2% while the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund ( VIS ) and the iShares US Industrials ETF ( IYJ ) were inactive.
Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) rose more than 4% before the opening bell, while Boeing (BA) was down 0.4% after the companies said that Boeing agreed to acquire Spirit in a deal worth $8.30 billion.
Health Care
The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLV ) advanced 0.2%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund ( VHT ) , the iShares US Healthcare ETF ( IYH ) , and the iShares Biotechnology ETF ( IBB ) were inactive.
Alvotech (ALVO) shares were up 3.5% premarket after the company reported preliminary Q2 revenue of between $196 million and $201 million.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLF ) gained 0.3%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was up 1.1%, while its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 1.2% lower.
Hut 8 (HUT) shares rose 3% pre-bell Monday after the company said it had closed its previously announced $150 million convertible note investment from a fund managed by Coatue Management LLC.
Energy
The iShares US Energy ETF ( IYE ) was inactive, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) was up by 0.5%.
TotalEnergies (TTE) stock was up 2.7% before Monday's opening bell after the company said it has acquired Tecoil, a re-refined base oil producer, to meet the demand for sustainable, high-performance lubricants.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil advanced 0.6% to $82.02 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas was 1.5% lower at $2.56 per 1 million British Thermal Units. United States Oil Fund ( USO ) gained 0.7%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) fell 1.4%.
Gold futures for August gained 0.2% to reach $2,344.50 an ounce on the Comex, while silver futures retreated 0.1% to $29.53 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares ( GLD ) gained 0.4%, and iShares Silver Trust ( SLV ) was 0.5% higher.
