08:22 AM EST, 02/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was down 0.2%, and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) retreated 0.4% in Thursday's premarket activity, ahead of a deluge of economic data releases, including the jobless claims report.
US stock futures were also lower, with S&P 500 Index futures down 0.2%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slipping 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures retreating 0.4% before the start of regular trading.
Reports slated for release at 8:30 am ET include the delayed international trade in goods and services report, the advance retail and wholesale inventory data for December, the weekly jobless claims bulletin, and the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index for February.
The pending home sales index for January posts at 10 am, followed by the weekly EIA domestic petroleum inventories report at 12 pm.
Fed Governor Michelle Bowman speaks at 8:30 am ET, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari at 9:00 am ET, and San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly is set to speak at 5:05 pm ET.
In premarket action, bitcoin was up by 0.4%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) was 0.3% higher, Ether ETF (EETH) advanced 0.6%, and Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) declined marginally by 0.03%.

Financial
The State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) retreated by 0.2%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was down 0.7%, while its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 0.8% higher.
Lemonade (LMND) shares were up more than 12% pre-bell after the company reported a narrowed Q4 net loss and higher revenue.

The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLV ) retreated 0.1%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund ( VHT ) was down 0.3% while the iShares US Healthcare ETF ( IYH ) was flat. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was inactive.
Madrigal Pharmaceuticals ( MDGL ) stock was down more than 4% premarket after the company reported a wider-than-expected Q4 net loss.

The State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLI ) advanced 0.1%, the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund ( VIS ) gained 0.2%, and the iShares US Industrials ETF ( IYJ ) was inactive.
Quanta Services ( PWR ) stock was up more than 4% before the opening bell after the company reported higher Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue.
Consumer
The State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) was down 0.6%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Index Fund ETF Shares (VDC) was 0.4% lower. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF ( IYK ) fell 1.4%. The State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) lost 0.4%. The VanEck Retail ETF ( RTH ) and the State Street SPDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) were inactive.
Walmart ( WMT ) shares were down more than 2% pre-bell after the company provided muted guidance for fiscal Q1 and 2027.
Technology
The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) retreated 0.3%, and the iShares US Technology ETF ( IYW ) was 0.3% lower, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF ( IGM ) was down 0.1%. Among semiconductor ETFs, the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) declined by 0.2%.
Upbound (UPBD) shares were down 2% in recent premarket activity after the company's 2026 outlook trailed the estimates of analysts polled by FactSet.
Energy
The iShares US Energy ETF ( IYE ) gained 0.6%, while the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLE ) was up by 1.1%.
Cenovus Energy ( CVE ) stock was up 2% before Thursday's opening bell after the company reported higher Q4 earnings.
Commodities
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.5% to reach $66.18 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas gained 0.9% to $3.04 per 1 million British Thermal Units. The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) advanced by 1.3%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 0.8% higher.
Gold futures for March were flat at $5,009.40 an ounce on the Comex. Silver futures were up 0.1% to $77.75 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares ( GLD ) declined marginally by 0.02%, and the iShares Silver Trust ( SLV ) was 1.1% higher.
