Exchange-Traded Funds Higher, US Equities Mixed After Midday

01:11 PM EST, 02/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.4%.

US equity indexes were mixed in midday trading Wednesday, with technology leading the sector charts ahead of Nvidia's ( NVDA ) quarterly earnings post-bell.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) fell 0.4%, and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) lost 0.6%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was up 1.1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) added 2.5%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) rose 2.1%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) eased 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) fell 0.2%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) gained 0.2%.

Commodities

Crude oil lost 0.3%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) eased 0.6%. Natural gas dipped 4.2%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) fell 2.4%.

Gold was up 0.3% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) edged up 0.1%. Silver gained 1.3%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) rose 0.9%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) dipped 1.8%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were lower.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 0.3%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) added 0.9%, while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) fell 0.8%.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.8%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were in the red. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was 0.2% lower.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was 0.3% up, and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were higher.
