Exchange-Traded Funds Higher, US Equities Mixed After Midday Trading Tuesday

12:59 PM EDT, 07/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.4%.

US equity indexes traded mixed while most government bond yields fell in midday trading on Tuesday.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) lost 0.2% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) edged down 0.3% as well.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was down 0.1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rose 0.7% and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) moved 0.4% higher.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) added 0.4%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 1.2% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) dipped 1.1%.

Commodities

Crude was up less than 0.1%; United States Oil Fund (USO) was flat. Natural gas was down 1.9% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) fell 2.1%.

Gold was down 0.4% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell 0.4%. Silver was up 0.1% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was fractionally lower.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) gained 0.2%%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were higher.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 1.3%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.7% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was around 1% lower.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) lost 0.04% and other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were higher.
