Exchange-Traded Funds Lower, US Equities Mixed After Midday

01:20 PM EDT, 06/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV were lower. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.1%.

US equity indexes were mixed after midday Wednesday amid firmer performance in the information technology and communication services sectors.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) were each down about 0.2%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose 0.6%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) moved higher as well.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) shed 0.5%, while iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) gained 0.3%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) was 0.3% lower. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) dipped 1.2%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), rose 1.2%.

Commodities

Crude oil gained 2.5%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 1.4%. Natural gas dipped 0.5%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 0.6%.

Gold rose 0.3% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was up 0.3%. Silver gained 1%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) added 0.7%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) dipped 1.1%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) fell past 1%, and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) declined 1.1%.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was down 1.2%; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were also lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was down 0.1%. iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) edged lower. iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 0.8%.

Industrial

Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) was 0.9% down. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were weaker.
