Exchange-Traded Funds Mixed, US Equities Higher After Midday Trading

01:09 PM EDT, 07/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were mixed, with the latter trading higher on Monday. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.4%.

US equity indexes rose with crude oil while government bond yields surged in midday trading.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) rose 0.1% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) edged up 0.2%

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) added 0.6%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) lost 0.8% and iShares PHLX Semiconductor (SOXX) fell 0.5%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) climbed 0.3%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) was up 0.5% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) fell 0.6%.

Commodities

Crude rose 1.7%; United States Oil Fund (USO) added 1.9%. Natural gas fell 3.6% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) contracted 4.2%.

Gold was fractionally lower based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 0.1%. Silver was up 0.3% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) rose 0.9%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) lost 0.5%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were lower.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 0.2%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) dipped 0.3% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 0.3%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) lost 1% and other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were lower.
