Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM declined while IVV rose. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 1%.
US equity indexes rose amid an onslaught of quarterly earnings reports and as investors awaited potential secondary tariffs on Russia if it fails to reach a peace on the Ukraine war.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) were edging lower.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) added 0.7%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also advanced.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) slipped 0.3%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) was 1.4% down.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) was 0.4% higher. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) climbed 1.4%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), dropped 1.3%.
Commodities
Crude oil gained 0.1%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.2%. Natural gas rose 1.1%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) added 1.4%.
Gold eased slightly on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) were down 0.1%. Silver added 0.2%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) added 0.1%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) advanced 1.6%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also moved higher.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 1.6%, and VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) also advanced.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) lost 1.2%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were also lower. iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 1.8%.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) was 0.1% up. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) edged lower.
Cryptocurrency
In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) rose 1.3%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF ( BITO ) added 1.4%, ProShares Ether ETF ( EETH ) climbed 2.1%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF ( BETH ) rose 1.8%.
