Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Drop After Midday

01:07 PM EDT, 07/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV declined. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was down 0.7%.

US equity indexes were down after midday on Monday as traders awaited news about new trade agreements.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each lost 1.6%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) fell 0.8%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also declined.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) shed 2.2%, while iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) slipped 1.6%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) was 1.2% lower. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) dropped 3.6%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), rose 3.3%.

Commodities

Crude oil added 1.2%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 1.2%. Natural gas rose 1.3%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) gained 0.3%.

Gold slipped 0.2% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) lost 0.2%. Silver slipped 0.6%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was down 0.5%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) fell 0.4%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) was down 0.5%, and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) lost 0.4%.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was down 1.6%; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were also in the red.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) declined 1%. iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) also fell. iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) dipped 1.4%.

Industrial

Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) was 0.7% lower. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were also down.
