Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Higher After Midday Trading

12:59 PM EDT, 06/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were higher Thursday. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.2%.

US equity indexes rose in choppy trade after a surprise increase in durable goods orders coincided with an upward revision in the final estimate for Q1 economic growth.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) lost 0.1% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) edged down fractionally.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was up 0.1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) lost 0.4% and iShares PHLX Semiconductor (SOXX) fell 0.6%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) fell 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) down 0.6% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was up 0.4%.

Commodities

Crude rose 0.6%; United States Oil Fund (USO) added 1%. Natural gas was down 1.2% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) lost 1%.

Gold added 1% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 1.1%. Silver was down 0.1% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) rose 0.4%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) lost 0.5%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were lower.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 0.6%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) dipped 0.4% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose less than 0.1%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) lost 0.01% and other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were mixed with latter higher.
