Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM fell and IVV dropped fractionally. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was 0.1% higher.

US equity indexes were mixed after midday on Wednesday amid a decline in volatility, pull-back in crude oil and higher government bond yields.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) both rose less than 0.1%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) added 0.8%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rose 1.9%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) climbed 1.6%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) lost 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) eased 0.7%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) added 0.8%.

Commodities

Crude oil was up 0.3%; United States Oil Fund (USO) dipped 0.3% Natural gas added 1.5%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) edged up 1%.

Gold was down 0.7% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) lost 0.3%. Silver was 0.6% higher, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) added 0.9%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) shed 1%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were declining.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) fell 1%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was down 0.2%; iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) lost 0.4%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was down 0.2%, and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) traded lower.
