Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Mixed After Midday

01:06 PM EST, 11/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM fell while IVV edged higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.6%.

US equity indexes traded mixed, with consumer discretionary and technology emerging as the sole gainers after midday on Monday.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each gained about 0.1%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) added 0.6%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also advanced.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) was down 1%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) rose 0.9%.

Financial

The Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) shed 0.5%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) slipped 1.5%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), rose 1.4%.

Commodities

Crude oil increased 0.6%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) added 0.5%. Natural gas rose 3%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) gained 4%.

Gold on Comex added 0.5%, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 0.1%. Silver dipped 0.1%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was down 0.2%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) lost 1%. The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) was 0.7% lower, and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) was down 1%.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) rose 1%. VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was up 0.4%, and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) fell 0.5%.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) lost 0.3%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) declined; iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was down 1.7%.

Industrial

Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) fell 0.4%. Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were in the red.

Cryptocurrency

In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) shed 2.3%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF ( BITO ) dipped 2.2%, ProShares Ether ETF ( EETH ) declined 5.7%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF ( BETH ) was down 3.1%.
