Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Mixed in Tuesday's Midday Trading

12:54 PM EDT, 06/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were mixed, with the latter trading fractionally higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 0.7%.

US equity indexes traded mixed as gains in technology and communication services lifted the Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) lost 0.6% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) edged down 0.5%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was up 1.1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rose 0.6% while iShares PHLX Semiconductor (SOXX) added 0.8%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) fell 0.9%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) were down 2.7% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was up 2.7%.

Commodities

Crude was down 0.8%; United States Oil Fund (USO) fell 1%. Natural gas was down 0.1% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) lost 1.8%.

Gold was down 0.4% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell 0.5%. Silver was down 1.9% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) dipped 2.2%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) lost 1%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were lower.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was down 0.6%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.5% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was flat.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) lost 1.3% and other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were lower.
