Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV rose. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was up 1.7%.
US equity indexes rose in Friday midday trading as strong jobs data countered bearish signals from Apple ( AAPL ) and Amazon.com ( AMZN ) .
Energy
IShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) added 0.8% each.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 1.8%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) moved higher as well.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) was up 5.1%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) added 4%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) rose 2.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) climbed 6.3%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), fell 6.1%.
Commodities
Crude oil fell 2.1%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) lost 1.5%. Natural gas added 3.7%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) rose 4.5%.
Gold advanced 0.2% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was up 0.1%. Silver edged down 0.8%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) dropped 1%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) was up 0.3%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were mixed, with the latter declining fractionally.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) rose 1.9%; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) gained 1%, while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) added 2.3%.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) moved 1.2% ahead, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) also rose. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) gained 1.3%.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) rose 2%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) also increased.
