08:25 AM EDT, 08/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Shares of US furniture and home goods companies were down ahead of Monday's opening bell after US President Donald Trump announced a major tariff investigation on furniture entering the US.
"Furniture coming from other countries into the United States will be tariffed at a rate yet to be determined," Trump said in a post on Truth Social late Friday.
Trump said the investigation will be completed in 50 days and it would "bring the furniture business back to North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, and states all across the union."
Arhaus ( ARHS ) shares were down 4.8%, RH (RH) shares fell 7.5%, and Wayfair ( W ) and Williams-Sonoma ( WSM ) were down 7% and 4.1%, respectively in Monday's premarket activity.
