Global Ship Lease Says Not US-Owned Amid China's New Port Fee Rules
Oct 15, 2025 2:30 PM

05:11 PM EDT, 10/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Global Ship Lease ( GSL ) said Wednesday it is not a US-owned or controlled entity and that none of its vessels fly the U.S. flag, following China's new Implementation Measures on Special Port Charges for US Vessels.

The Marshall Islands-incorporated container ship owner said its executive management is based in Greece, its fleet is entirely managed by a Greek-owned company, and no US shareholder holds 25% or more of its stock.

GSL operates 69 container ships under long-term charters to major liner companies.
