Indian indices rose on Thursday led by gains in banking and IT stocks, however, losses in energy stocks and heavyweight RIL kept the indices from hitting record highs.

The Sensex ended 393 points higher at 52,699 while the Nifty rose 103 points to settle at 15,790. Broader markets however underperformed with the midcap index down 0.2 percent and smallcap index flat.

On the Nifty50 index, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steel and L&T were the top gainers while RIL, Coal India, IOC, ONGC and Bharti Airtel led the losses.

RIL: Shares of Reliance Industries ended over 2 percent lower at Rs 2,153 on BSE on Thursday amidst various announcements at its 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM). From Aramco partnership to be finalised this year to Rs 75,000 crore investment in green energy over the next 3 years, RIL made a slew of announcements at the meeting today. However, the announcements failed to uplift the stock movement.

Shyam Metalics & Energy: Shares of Shyam Metalics & Energy made a strong debut on the bourses, settling at Rs 375, a premium of 22.5 percent to the issue price of Rs 306 per share. The initial public offering (IPO) of Shyam Metalics & Energy was subscribed 121.43 times between June 14 to June 16. The offer received bids for over 256 crore equity shares against the IPO size of over 2.1 crore equity shares.

Sona Comstar: Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) settled at Rs 362.85 per share, over 24.5 percent premium to its issue price of Rs 291 per share. The IPO was open between June 14-16 and the price band for the issue was fixed at Rs 285-Rs 291. The Rs 5,550-crore initial public offering (IPO) of was subscribed 2.33 times. The stock, however, listed at an over 3 percent premium.

Orchid Pharma: Shares of Orchid Pharma were locked in 10 percent lower circuit at Rs 1,187.85 on the BSE as the company's two-day stake sale through an offer for sale (OFS) began today. The floor price for the offer has been fixed at Rs 375 a share. Dhanuka Laboratories, one of the promoters of Orchid Pharma, proposed to sell in aggregate up to 3.28 million equity shares, representing 8.04 percent of the total equity share capital of the Company. The issue opened today for non-retail investors and will open for retail investors on Friday.

Nureca: Shares of Nureca were locked in a 5 percent upper circuit of Rs 1,627.50 on BSE after Hornbill Orchid India Fund acquired a stake in the company. Hornbill Orchid India Fund, a Mauritius-based hedge fund, acquired a 1.95 percent equity stake in Nureca, a home healthcare and wellness products seller. Hornbill Orchid India Fund bought 1,95,766 equity shares in Nureca at Rs 1,549.97 per share on the BSE, the bulk deals data showed.
