Infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday said that its construction arm has bagged a significant order from the Rajasthan government to build a water supply project in Chittorgarh district of the state.

The engineering, procurement and construction order pertains to the water supply project for 648 villages in Chittorgarh from the Chambal River under the Jal Jeevan Mission (Package-I).
The order has been received from the Public Health Engineering Department of the Rajasthan government, the company said in a filing to the stock exchanges.
This is the company's fourth order in this month so far.
Without disclosing the exact size of the contract, the company said that L&T Construction has secured a ‘significant’ order for its Water and effluent Treatment (WET) Business.

As per L&T classification, orders worth between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore are classified as ‘significant’.
The scope of the project involves intake structures, 3 water treatment plants of aggregate capacity 175 MLD, transmission and distribution pipelines of 1,800 Km; 13 clear water reservoirs of aggregate capacity 21,600 KL; 13 pump houses and 31 overhead service reservoirs of aggregate capacity of 4,850 KL. The company will also set up 22,000 functional household tap connections.
Also, the project includes automation along with operation and maintenance for 10 years, the company said.
In addition, L&T said that its WET business division has received an order from the Assam government for the construction of the remaining works of the 107 MLD capacity South Guwahati West water supply project.
Earlier this month, L&T's buildings and factories business secured various orders in the 'large' category for various business units.
Besides, its power business arm, L&T Energy – Power, bagged a significant order from the West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd. Also, the construction division received a 'large' order from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
At 11.24 am, shares of L&T were trading 0.5 percent higher at Rs 3,089.35 apiece on the BSE.
