The market continues to trade in the green but is now off highs with the BSE Sensex trading at 35,802 points and the NSE Nifty trading at 10,869 points. TCS and the pharma stocks continue to surge in trade while Vedanta, ONGC, Tata Steel and Idea Cellular slip.

How was the market faring?

The market is trading higher after being off highs for a brief period, with the BSE Sensex trading at 35,835 points and the NSE Nifty trading at 10,877 points.

The market is advancing in trade despite weak global cues, expected Fed rate hike and India's inflation numbers for May.

Pharma stocks continued to gain for the third consecutive day with Sun Pharma gaining more than two percent after the drug major said it had received establishment inspection report (EIR) from the US health regulator for its Halol facility in Gujarat. Dr Reddy's Labs and Cipla were among the top gainers.

Axis Bank and Titan were also among the index gainers while Idea Cellular, Zee Entertainment, Tata Steel, Vedanta and ONGC were the top index losers.

The market, despite the weak global cues, advanced in the opening on Wednesday with the BSE Sensex opening at 35,803 points and the NSE Nifty opening at 10,870 points.
