How did the market open?

The market opened higher with the NSE Nifty trading at 10,812 points and the BSE Sensex at 35,514 points even as the historic meet between the US President Donald Trump and the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un began on Tuesday morning.

US President Donald Trump said he had forged a "good relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as the two men sought ways to end a nuclear standoff on the Korean peninsula.

Dr Reddy's Labs, HPCL, BPCL, Wipro and Cipla were the opening gainers while Tata Steel, Infosys, Idea Cellular, UPL and HUL were the top losers.

Tata Steel was losing in trade after the news that its bid offer for Bhushan Steel was lower than that of Liberty House.

Fortis was losing nearly a percent in trade after the company said that it had deferred the release of its fourth quarter and full-year financial results to June 25 saying the report of the internal investigation conducted by Luthra & Luthra Law Offices was made available only on June 8.

The global markets were trading in the green, even before the Trump-Kim meet took place. The gains were steady as global investors were cautious of the outcome.
