Markets Look to Close Out Strong Week as US Futures Mixed in Friday's Premarket

08:24 AM EDT, 10/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US stock futures are mixed ahead of a relatively light day on the economic calendar with housing starts data and the Baker Hughes rig count coming out later Friday, along with speeches from Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic and Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were off 00.1%, S&P 500 futures were up 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures were rising 0.5%.

Oil prices were moving slightly lower, with front-month global benchmarks Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate crude rising 0.1% and 0.2% respectively.

In equities, shares of Safe (SOBR) soared 84% in Friday's premarket session following a slight gain the previous day. D-MARKET Electronic Services & Trading (HEPS) shares surged 67% after its controlling shareholder agreed to sell 65.41% of the company for total consideration of $1.13 billion. And shares of Pineapple Energy ( PEGY ) jumped 66% after it reported in a regulatory filing late Thursday that it has terminated the lease for its principal corporate office, which it said will save it approximately $17,500 per month, or $210,000 a year, in associated rent expenditures.

On the losing side, shares of Orgenesis ( ORGS ) plunged 41%, adding to a 4.5% loss on Thursday. NuZee ( NUZE ) shares tumbled 37% after skyrocketing 546% the previous session when it said it established offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China and other regions to develop its global business. And shares of ShiftPixy ( PIXY ) shed 11% after jumping 53% Thursday when it said it agreed to acquire artificial intelligence company TurboScale for $150 million in stock and debt.
