Opening Bell: Market opens higher than Friday's close, ICICI Bank, Vijaya Bank to declare quarterly earnings

The market opened higher compared to Friday's close with the BSE Sensex trading at 35,031 points, gaining 100 points in the opening trade, and the NSE Nifty at 10,646 points.

The Indian stock market opened higher, backed by the recovery in global cues. In the earnings front, ICICI Bank, OBC, Vijaya Bank, among others will declare their quarterly results today.

Among the opening Nifty gainers, IT and auto stocks are surging in trade with Infosys, Tech Mahindra, M&M and Bajaj Auto taking the lead by gaining more than a percent while pharma and oil marketing firms' stocks, Lupin, Cipla, HPCL, among others are dragging the index.

The Asian markets remain mixed with Japan's Nikkei is currently trading with half a percent dip while Hong Kong's Hang Seng is trading with a 0.68% high. Korea's Kospi, however, is shut today on account of Children's Day.

The Singapore's SGX Nifty is trading 10,680 levels versus the Friday close of 10,669.

The US market closed largely higher on Friday with all the indices in the green after the tech stocks helped to pull the market up in trade.
