The Indian equity benchmark indices opened slightly lower on Friday with Vodafone Idea losing the most — nearly 40 percent — after the Supreme Court dismissed the telecom firms' plea seeking to review the AGR verdict.

The Sensex opened 38.03 points or 0.09 percent lower at 41,894.53 while the Nifty50 index opened at 12,332.55, down 22.95 points or 0.19 percent.
Broader indices opened flat, with Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indexes up 0.01 percent and 0.15 percent, respectively.
Nifty PSU Bank remained the worst-performing index in the early morning session, down 1.45 percent, followed by Nifty Bank and Nifty Private Bank.
Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, UPL and Tata Steel were the Nifty50 top gainers while Vodafone Idea, Bharti Infratel, YES Bank, IndusInd Bank, SBI and Grasim remained the top losers.
Vodafone Idea's share price tanked 39 percent intraday after Supreme Court dismissed the plea filed by telcos seeking to review its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) ruling.
