Samvat 2077: Looking at companies with cheap and manageable debt on their books, says Madhu Kela
Nov 10, 2020 8:25 AM

The last year had been quite good for equity markets, but in general it was bad for many people. But how will the next year be for markets?

Market Veteran Madhu Kela said he is looking at companies with cheap and manageable debt on their books.

“Where the interest rates are, it has become very fashionable to talk about debt free companies and debt free individuals. In fact I am now looking for companies which have reasonable amount of debt. So if we don’t get into too much of macro analysis, I am extremely positive on select companies which are midcap, which have been neglected, which have seen prices much more damaged than we would have normally seen because of COVID,” he said.

Shankar Sharma, vice-Chairman & Joint MD of First Global, said that, "In some time, we will see trade come back to emerging markets."

“We were anyway very cautious on US in particular last couple of months. So we had really cut back on that. So yesterday was damaging but not as much as what it would have happened 2 months. I think in some part you will see the trade change back to emerging market rather than just being an US bet that we have seen for the last 10 years,” he said.
