03:28 PM EDT, 06/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks fell late Tuesday afternoon with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) down 0.6% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) falling 1.6%.

In sector news, streaming platforms reached a record 44.8% of total television usage in May, outpacing the combined share of broadcast and cable for the first time ever, Nielsen said. Alphabet's (GOOGL) YouTube led the streamers at 12.5% of all TV viewing, followed by Netflix (NFLX) with a 7.5% share and Walt Disney ( DIS ) with 5%.

In corporate news, Walt Disney ( DIS ) and Amazon.com ( AMZN ) launched a partnership aimed at improving advertisement targeting for streaming television, The Hollywood Reporter said. Disney ( DIS ) shares fell 1.3%.
