Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Gain Late Afternoon

03:48 PM EST, 11/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were rising late Friday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) increasing 1.3% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) climbing 2.5%.

The University of Michigan consumer sentiment index was revised higher to 51.0 for November from 50.3 in the preliminary estimate, versus the 50.6 outlook in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.

In corporate news, Ford (F) shares rose 3.3% after the carmaker reaffirmed its full-year 2025 guidance.

Ross Stores ( ROST ) jumped past 8% after the discount retailer reported an unexpected increase in its fiscal Q3 earnings.

Nike ( NKE ) may reemerge as a sneaker suitor for National Basketball Association star Stephen Curry following his split last week with Under Armour ( UAA ) , Bloomberg reported. Nike ( NKE ) shares rose 2.3% and Under Armour ( UAA ) stock added 2.6%.

RCI Hospitality ( RICK ) stock surged past 10% after it repurchased 821,000 shares from ADW Capital Partners for $30 million.
