Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed in Late Afternoon Trading

04:05 PM EST, 11/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed late Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) easing 0.3% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) climbing 1.8%.

In corporate news, Chipotle Mexican Grill ( CMG ) shares rose 0.9% after the company said Monday it has named Scott Boatwright as its permanent chief executive.

Tesla's (TSLA) shares jumped nearly 9% in recent Monday trading, extending its rally after Donald Trump's victory in Tuesday's election. Tesla's AI opportunity will likely get fast-tracked under a Trump administration, Wedbush said Monday. The brokerage lifted its target price on the company to $400 from $300 and reiterated an outperform rating.

Honda ( HMC ) is facing an investigation of more than 1.4 million vehicles following reports of severe engine issues, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday. Honda ( HMC ) shares were rising 0.6%.

Aramark ( ARMK ) reported higher fiscal Q4 results on Monday as fans spent more in sports stadiums and inflation steadied, driving an 11% increase in its dividend and a forecast for earnings and revenue growth in the current year. Its shares were falling 1.1%.
