Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed in Monday Afternoon Trading

01:49 PM EST, 03/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) increasing 0.6% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) shedding 1%.

In corporate news, Kroger ( KR ) Chief Executive Rodney McMullen resigned after an investigation found that his personal conduct was inconsistent with the supermarket chain's ethics policy. Kroger ( KR ) shares fell 2.4%.

Ford (F) on Monday reported a year-over-year drop in US February sales amid weakness in the internal combustion component, though hybrid sales grew sharply. Its shares were down 0.2%.

Capri (CPRI) is nearing a deal to sell Versace to Prada for nearly 1.5 billion euros ($1.56 billion), Bloomberg reported over the weekend. Capri shares climbed nearly 6%.
