Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Late Afternoon

03:39 PM EST, 11/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed late Wednesday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) increasing 0.1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) shedding 0.4%.

In corporate news, Foot Locker ( FL ) shares popped 4.1% after Williams Trading upgraded its rating to hold from sell.

Chewy (CHWY) is expected to report 'solid' Q3 results next week amid accelerating sales growth and continued margin strength despite a slowdown in website traffic in October, Wedbush Securities said in a note. Chewy shares were down 1.5%.

Urban Outfitters ( URBN ) shares surged 19%, a day after the company reported higher earnings and sales for Q3.

Guess? (GES) shares tumbled nearly 5%. The company reported fiscal Q3 adjusted earnings late Tuesday of $0.34 per diluted share, down from $0.49 a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $0.37.
