03:42 PM EDT, 07/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed late Monday afternoon with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) shedding 1.1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) increasing 0.6%.
In corporate news, Warner Bros. Discovery ( WBD ) said its streaming and studio-focused company will be named Warner Bros., while the broadcast unit will be called Discovery Global following the company's planned split in mid-2026. The stock rose 1.5%.
Nike ( NKE ) shares gained 3.4% after JPMorgan upgraded the stock to overweight from neutral and raised its price target to $93 a share from $64.
Tesla (TSLA) awarded an AI semiconductor manufacturing contract worth about 22.8 trillion South Korean won ($16.5 billion) to Samsung, the South Korean company said. Tesla shares climbed 3.1%.
Hershey (HSY) is expected to report Q2 results above market expectations amid strong consumption trends, while tariff-related pressures may spur the company to adjust its earnings outlook downward in Q3, RBC Capital Markets said. Hershey shares fell 1.4%.
