Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Pre-Bell Monday

08:56 AM EST, 12/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) marginally lower and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) slightly advancing.

Tesla (TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk has become the first person to accumulate a net worth of more than $700 billion, according to Forbes' billionaire index. Tesla stock was up more than 1% premarket.

Coty ( COTY ) shares were up more than 1% after the company said it appointed Markus Strobel as interim chief executive officer and executive board chairman, effective Jan. 1.

Coupang ( CPNG ) is facing an in-depth tax probe, including transactions linked to its US headquarters, by South Korea's tax authorities, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing industry sources. Coupang ( CPNG ) shares were 0.3% higher premarket.
