Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Rise in Late Afternoon Trading

03:53 PM EDT, 03/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks rose late Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) adding 1.7% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) up 0.3%.

In corporate news, Tesla (TSLA) plans to offer interest-free, three-year loans for its refreshed Model Y vehicles in China before April 30, Reuters reported, citing a social media post from the company. Tesla shares fell 1.5%.

Newton Golf ( NWTG ) reported a year-over-year increase of 817% in its Q4 net sales. The shares surged 42%.

Canada Goose (GOOS) shares fell 3.5% after Barclays downgraded the stock to underweight from equal weight.

Newsmax ( NMAX ) debuted on the New York Stock Exchange, after selling 7.5 million class B shares at $10 apiece in an initial public offering. Its shares surged 675%.
