Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Softer in Afternoon Trading

01:50 PM EDT, 09/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were decreasing Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) easing 0.1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) down 0.4%.

In corporate news, Stellantis ( STLA ) shares tumbled over 13% after the automaker slashed its full-year adjusted operating income margin and free cash flow projections amid deteriorating global industry trends.

Kimberly-Clark ( KMB ) is mulling options for its international tissue business as part of a strategy to focus on more profitable areas, Bloomberg reported. Kimberly-Clark ( KMB ) shares were easing 0.2%.

Signs that a gang forced 16 victims to work at either McDonald's (MCD) or a factory that supplied bread products to major supermarkets were missed for years, the BBC reported. McDonald's shares were 0.1% higher recently.
