03:23 PM EDT, 04/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were rising late Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index adding 0.8% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) climbing 1%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was advancing 1%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was up 0.4%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.3% to $86.81 a barrel, while global benchmark Brent was advancing 0.4% to $91.04 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 0.4% higher at $1.78 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, NGL Energy ( NGL ) jumped nearly 4% as it said Friday it has completed the sale of its North and South Ranches in New Mexico, resulting in proceeds of roughly $70 million.
