The United States Oil Fund (USO) was 1.2% lower, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 0.7%.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude was down 0.9% at $81.14 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark Brent lost 0.8% to $86.29 per barrel, and natural-gas futures were down 0.8% at $1.78 per 1 million BTU.
Halliburton ( HAL ) was up 0.4% after it reported higher Q1 adjusted earnings and revenue.
